Update from Bernal, Mexico

Writer: Judah JacobsonJudah Jacobson

We arrived in Bernal on Monday morning after a smooth, well-organized trip. Over 60 of us were on the plane. As we soared over Mexico, we broke into a flash-mob-style rendition of Lean on Me, to the delight of our fellow passengers.

At the hotel, the well-orchestrated schedule kicked in—meals, room assignments, and then dinner, followed by an orientation from Brother Nat.

On Tuesday, we had a powerful outreach meeting. For the first time, the Mexican church experienced a Spirit-filled choir singing in both English and Spanish. As the youth sang Let It Rain, you could feel something breaking—like showers refreshing dry hearts. Brother Nat shared a stirring message on the riches God has entrusted to us and how our outlook shapes our success.

On Wednesday, a few of us met with local and regional leaders to finalize details for the fair. Though adversaries attempted to stand in the way of doors God had opened, we saw His supernatural hand at work throughout the day and felt your prayers in a tangible way.

For dinner Wednesday night, we gathered on the rooftop of our central hotel to celebrate some recent birthdays. We invited Iván, a local politician who has recently become our advocate in the area. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Stephen grabbed a guitar and led the youth in song. Iván, deeply moved, stayed until the very end.

Last night, we gathered for a church-wide meeting. The presence of God was thick in the room as many from Texas and Mexico testified, sang, and ministered. Brother Nat preached that those who recognize what they have will gain more, while those blinded by cynicism will lose even what they have. Then, he succinctly explained the foundational gifts God uses to build His church. As he finished speaking, a palpable surge of the Spirit swept through the room, pulling men out of their seats and into powerful moments of repentance and commitment.

When the worship quieted, Brother Éder stood before the church and declared, “Just as the centurion had to come under authority to see his servant’s miracle, I too submit to God’s design for this church.” Though formidable adversaries seek to stifle God’s purpose, last night felt like a decisive shift. Seeing the church respond in revelation—following Brother Éder’s lead, stepping into the waters of the Jordan, and believing in the promise God revealed—was inspiring.

Today, after a full day of crafts, church building improvements, vibrant leadership discussions and overall fair preparations, we’ll gather at a nearby park for a picnic. Our young people will mix with theirs for kickball, fellowship, and a time of wholesome fun.

Please keep us in your prayers. We know none of this would be possible without the love and support you’re sending in every way. We are honored to be your representatives here!
